8/4/09 It appears that some time last week the female abandoned the 3rd nesting attempt. Not unexpected. Among other unknown reasons the timing was way off (very late). I looked this AM and there are still 2 eggs in the nest, but by now they are certainly no longer viable. So, i would say this nesting season is pretty much over. See below about what you need to do to stay in touch with me about next season. For now, THANKS TO YOU ALL! Great comments, questions, and answers. PD
7/21/09 For those of you just tuning in, this is the 3rd nesting this season. 1st nest was on same conduit 4′ to the right and fledged 2 chicks on 5/29 and 6/1. 2nd attempt in new nest (the one you’re looking at) on 6/3 by dif female abandoned after about 10 days, although she did lay 2 eggs. Current nesting attempt discovered ~7/9; 7/15 there was 1 egg; 7/19 2 eggs. Doesn’t appear to be same female as #2. May be #1 again or a new 3rd female. Based on 2nd egg date and if all goes well, hatch should be around 8/2-8/3.
Those of you who want to be kept informed about other nest cams and next yrs nesting at Starr Ranch either post a message with a legitimate email address or email me directly at the email address to the left and I’ll add you to the list.
Thanks for tuning in and please consider supporting the cam - it cost real dollars to keep it available to all of you. Thanks, Pete DeSimone

Mr. Pete,
Thank you very much for the precision. Now, it makes more sense for me the fact that you leave this cam on.
Bye.
I left cam on so people know what we might be seeing come April. Costs next to nothing to leave it live. Only expense is when a lot of people are viewing. I can’t believe that right now anyone stays for but a few moments. PD
A long time since that nest has been abandoned. It’s an old nest.
I wonder why this cam is still on??? All that $$$ lost…
Hanging out at the Owls nest…
